window problem

well put my drivers window down tonight then it wouldnt go up so ripped the door panel off and it looks and sounds like the cable is off and it moves one way and not the other any one fixed this falut befor or has a unit the dont need asap

its a pretty common fault unfortunately. my passengers doesn't work. i replaced it with a working second hand one and that lasted a few months then broke.


Mk1 Golf 1.1, 6n Polo 16v, and now an 8v mk3 GTi

febi, meyle sell new one and seem good quality (or as good as a 20 year old vw valeo unit)

Check your local auto shop for a febi or meyle supplier (or ebay if needed)
