no it wont, my Mk3 blew the cat and backbox, and still drove fine lol
However, the Mk2 my cuz and I were working on, we changed the head gasget and used a 3rd party timing belt and it was like 2 teeth out and until we sorted that it would not start.

the cat would need to be blocked solid to prevent the car from starting, i doubt that's happened but you can unbolt the downpipe and see if it starts to test.

Ill have to take a look tomorrow now as i think my starter motor has gone as well as it just clicks when i go to start it  :angry:

Has the garage checked the earthing straps? Fuses on top of the battery?

To be honest Mate i dont think they checked anything apart from change the oil sensor as the light was on, because when i was telling them to check the things i was told to check they kept saying it wasnt that

I thought that mate thats why i had it back 2 days ago everytime i went down there no one was touching it, i was just getting told they were waiting for someone else to come and have a look but they never turned up,  :whistle:

Had another look at it today, to see if i was getting any spark (basically checking what the garage should have) so i put a spark plug on the ignition lead with a jump lead from the spark plug to battery (thats what i was told how to do it) lol and cranked the car, didnt see no spark cant be 100% As my battery died, waiting for a mate to come and put some life in battery for me to double check, if there is no spark were should i start looking to fix it? I was told live wire to the coil pack may have broke what do u guys think cheers
