Newbie buying advice? (from a pug owner )

Hi guys,

wanted some advice really. im a member of pgac pug forums, thinking of flogging my modded 306 to buy a mk1 golf cab.
 
wanted some advice really to downfalls etc of buying...
and also the insurance group of these??

all help greatly appreciated
