« on: 08 September 2013, 19:00 »
hey guys have any of you ever run a gs2h kent cam in your engine? if so what was the power gain like and does it lose much torque low down? any effect on idle quality? cheers.

you'd struggel to tell the differance between it and a standard cam at low rpm and idel,    rember it had noticably more go than a std cam
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

cool. any opinions on the gs1h kent cam? according to the specs there doesn't seem to be much difference in them. they reckon 22 bhp gain with gs1h and 30 with gs2h. seems a bit optimistic to me or is that the figures when combined with other mods?

That sounds wildly optimistic to me!

10bhp if you're lucky. ... Ideally needs to be combined with porting and other mods
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Gs2h with a head job and a 2.0 bottom end will see around 145-150 if set up right. So id say youd be close to around 130 with similar but on a 1.8 bottom end

all the VW's have gone bar 1.

yeah 125ish would do for now but is that with a gs1h or gs2h cam? was just after a slight upgrade from standard. would the gs1h be any good with a 2 litre bottom end?

Both will give about 10bhp on a fairly standard set up.
The Gs2 will require a bit more engine work and set up to see its full potential but it still won't rip your socks off.
