Mk4 golf gti
« on: 08 September 2013, 01:01 »
I have a imported Mk4 golf gti AGU engine, so far it has a paddle clutch, a re-map and having a S/S exhaust system fitted as we speak. I have around £2000 to spend on it at the mo (respray is costing £1000 so have £1000 to spend on mods) can anybody suggest what to do next to it and also the best places in the southwest to get parts and fitted? Want to hopefully get around the 300bhp mark out of it.

First thing I would do is replace all your hoses....

With your budget and If you're going for the 300mark, I would get a littco hybrid turbo as it'll be a straight fit to yiur engine and the rest of the money can go on other parts.

It'd surely be a good start if power is what Terry really wants. Isn't a littco hybrid around the 5-600hundred mark? Which will be a direct replacement and has more potential than a K04 upgrade which would cost more to build properly surely?

Then he can choose to spend the rest on what ever be needs. Like a front mount and boost hoses. Then obviously, no matter what mods he does, the car is going to need mapping to see any benefit from it so this should be factored in regardless of mods.

I have found a ko4 hybrid on eBay with a starting bid of £250 but is it to much work to do to replace and plus I don't know of any good garages around where I live that I can trust to do my works, this is the problem I have, people round here seem to love there jap cars, I've had 1 and not keen on them.

The thing with a K04 is that you need to change a lot of other parts to make it fit and obviously you want decent parts and not to do it on the cheap, therefore with your budget I would have thought a beach buggy hybrid would have been the more economical option.

At the end of the day though bud it's your choice what you do as it's your car.
