As a technician myself for VW, thats awful.

All the guys at my place have special plastic trim tools, and I have never damaged a trim like that.

Even if I did damage a trim somehow, it would always be reported, and ordered to be replaced.

Some technicians, and garages just have no interest, and really couldnt care about others property. Shocking really!

thats ridiculous.

did u spot the damage before you left the dealers.

When i had a problem with them damaging my car i made sure i spoke to the manager straight away and he got it sort.

Thats the problem with these large companies they can always get out of paying for damage they cause.

No it wasn't till i got home i noticed damage,

Yeh they always riggle out of responsibility somehow! For all the cost in a replacement  fascia i would had thought garage would changed it and just said nothing to me. Cowboys..

You do realise your gonna get loads of technical type questions now? You should get your dealer to do a promotion on servicing for forum members, they'd be inundated!

Would be handy, we see plenty of GTI's come through, cant beat working on a nicely cared for GTI or R/R32.

Thing is most of them that come in are a state, doesnt seem to be many enthusiasts! :(

I know hindsight is a great thing but when you book your car in for any work, get the person booking it in to come and inspect it with you. Put the onus back onto them.

Certain garages now couldn't give a toss. I've had paint scratched and wheels damaged in the past. Yet when you complain, they make out as if you have done it yourself and trying to pull a fast one!! Its a disgrace.

Finally got a reply !!

Further to checking with the technician who carried out the work on your vehicle, & being shown how the type of stereo in your vehicle is removed,

We are certain that the damage shown on the photographs were not caused by the work carried out  in the workshop, However, as a goodwill gesture, we will replace the bezel for you around the Heater controls, This part has been placed on order for you & we will contact you when it has arrived to arrange replacement of it

Still no admission of fault, but at least you got a result and the worst of it will be replaced.  Let's hope they do a better job fitting the new part than their last effort!
