Any advice would be greatly appreciated
« on: 06 September 2013, 19:39 »
Right! (I have searched and can't seem to find an answer) After waaaaaaayyy too long without a Golf I'm finally looking at buying another. The below link is what I am heading off to look at on Monday:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201306157310824/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/4000/fuel-type/petrol/engine-size-cars/1-7l_to_1-9l/quantity-of-doors/3/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/model/golf/make/volkswagen/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1500/postcode/pe273ab/page/1?logcode=p

The reason I've started this topic is that upon some digging some conflicting information has arised:

- The Garage have confirmed this engine is an AUQ with a 6 speed box (and to be fair I think I can see it has a 6speed gear Knob in one the pictures), but insurance comparison websites have the Reg No. stored as either a 150bhp Turbo or a 125bhp non Turbo! (depending on who your are checking on).
- My local volkswagen Dealership kindly ran a check for me on this Reg No. against Volkswagen's database and have confirmed it is a Turbo.
- HPI have it listed as a GTi Turbo with 5Gears but 202g/km emissions (which I am lead to believe is the AUQ emissions figure!) Otherwise the Mileage was spot on, there are no records of ANY change (Except ownership)

So I just wanted to get your thoughts on this, whether you've seen something like this happen before and what I should check / look out for? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

Well I've had 2 and am kind of smitten by them if I'm honest...  I love how tuneable they are and when I had my Green AUM I always wanted to test a 6 speed box!  So I'm really intrigued by this and the garage it's being sold at are replacing the front brakes, giving it a once over and doing the Cambelt & Water Pump ready for when I arrive Monday.. I intend to check the stickers in the S/Book and in the boot / the Engine Code and the VIN number.. Not sure where the engine number is though?

Thanks!

Dan
