Stock 710N DV noise

Hi there,

Just changed the stock DV in my 1.8t 150bhp for another standard 710N as it was making a slight 'pshh' noise on lift off. There was no flutter. Now, with the new valve fitted, the same noise is still there. Is this quiet 'pshh' noise a characteristic of the 710N?

That is indeed the correct sound, turbo flutter is extremely bad for your turbo as it's caused by air being forced the wrong way through the turbo therefore putting excessive strain on it.

I doubt it, you'll need a Forge 007 or 008 valve with a green spring.

if its new the standard valve can proberbly hand a stage 1 map. however life will be reduced cause of the greater pressures it will experience.

if its new id have no problem getting it maped with a standard dv, 007 will be better and will not leak boost, but the standard should not leak boost straight away...

Gents. This very same valve is used in the previous generation A4/A6 twin turbo and Porsche 996 twin Turbo.
It can handle st1 in a Golf no problem.

Boost acts on the side and top of the valve, there is no way it can be pushed open.

The 710n valve is not the same valve the car originally came with. There is a new P revision which indicates it is still being used in current VAG group cars.
