Van hire...
«
on:
03 September 2013, 22:08 »
I'm moving house this week and have hired a standard size transit, the biggest thing I've driven is a new MG6 and obviously my 5 door Golf!
How difficult am I likely to find it and any advice? I pick it up at 10 tomorrow!
Thanks,
Jack

Go wide turning corners you might clip curbs otherwise

they are actually very easy to drive. little wider than a car of course but just go easy with it and you soon get used to it.

Careful if you nip out to a drive thru or a multi storey

Thanks guys,
hopefully I should get used to it fairly quickly, I will be covering some 120+ miles so there's plenty of time!
I hope that the "better than some cars" is no attempt at sarcasm at my 2.0 as I can assure you it's a joy to drive!
Thanks again!

Think he meant easier to drive. You might find reversing a bit harder but you have huge door mirrors so its not too bad as you can see everything in them.

Get The Sun on the dash, one arm on the window and lock your other hand with your mobile phone in it to your ear.
Only move the arm on the window sill to give other people the bird.
Cut in, don't signal and generally behave like a c*nt.
Shouldn't take too much to get the hang of.

drove a works van on site a few times. every time i get out of it i seriously consider buying a van, so comfy, so much room and really easy to drive. yeah there not fast, but the comfort factor makes up for it...
