Water/Air intercooler
« on: 02 September 2013, 12:52 »
anyone ever fitted one?

sick of the front mount with pipes poking out of the bumper and pipes not fitting 100% so was thinking of installing a water/air intercooler as aposed to air/air intercooler.
plus i fancy something different...

any advantages/disadvatages?

hard to install?

expensive?

the only real down sides i see are finding somewhere to mount the pump and small radiator and somewhere to mount the coolant bottle.

heard of people saying the coolant adative doesent last long and has to be replaced too oftern to make it suitable for a daily driver, but the way i see it is it should only need replacing when engine coolant needs replacing?

was thinking of a small tank in the boot, along with pump, then pipes routed up to the cooler at the front mounted to the right of the engine then a small radiator mounted at the front of the car or something along those lines, but havent really looked into it much, litterally only thought about it a few days ago so thought id see if anyone else has done this or simelar...dont even know if water/aircoolers are any good, know some drag lads use them cause they can add coolant that been in a fridge just before a race to get the coolant extra cold...

Charge cooler, had one on my ERST. They can work out quite pricey though and heatsoak can be a problem
