16v Springs Thoughts Please
« on: 30 August 2013, 11:55 »
Morning all, well having fitted completely new standard shocks and springs with mounts, tops etc, the car seems to be sitting to high at the back and perhaps the front, I had fitted new sachs 16v springs from euro car parts have checked the part number on the invoice and apparently they are the correct ones, but car is riding at 360MM from centre of hub to wheel arch, which if im wrong is about 40mm to high for the 16v. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be wrong springs supplied?

I went to gsf and ecp to price up 8v and 16v springs and it turned out they were the same part numbers which is not right as 16v sat 10mm lower. I would just go for some 30mm drop springs. the ones you bought are obviously wrong so you are well within your rights to take them back.

The penny has dropped and have to agree that these must be the wrong springs can you lads recommend anything as I'm wanting to keep ride height completely standard, second problem out of 3 with parts ordered from Ecp, anyone recommend a supplier? Andrew Pages? And when you say 30mm drop how do you mean?

30mm drop from standard ride height. I would try the vw dealers but they probably cost a fortune if they are even available.

Think I have sorted it having ordered rear shockers from VW heritage and good while ago and not having dropped the car on the deck off the axle stands I believe they have sent incorrect shockers as I have checked there web site this morning and now say not suitable for 16v so have ordered some new ones and will try them and see what happens and let you know

Get a set of 16v eibachs. Best springs you can fit. They only drop another 25mm and are perfect in everyway
