Do they unfold when you unlock the car, and then fold when you lock the car?  This is how I'd expect them to behave, but I'm sure I've read that they fold and unfold in relation to the ignition, not the locking.

They unfold on ignition start.

It can all be disabled via the media system.

So they unfold on ignition start, and fold on locking?  Not quite how I would have programmed things if that's the case.  I'll be leaving it all enabled, but it makes more sense to me to have them unfold on unlocking the car, but it's a minor thing!

Possibly... but then consider the scenario where you pop out to the car to get something (without intending to drive anywhere) and the mirrors unfold when you unlock! It would seem pointless that they'd unfold unless you're actually getting in and driving off...

I've seen it on some cars where there's a separate button on the keyfob for unfolding mirrors.

Pain in the arse for washing the car mind you. I find I have to start the ignition to unfold the wing mirrors to then be able to wash them properly

I sense a bit of deja vu with this topic, and my reply remains the same - what does it matter if they folded and unfolded if I popped out to just get something?  It takes no effort or thought on my part, and isn't going to harm the car!

Yup, I made that point before, although with keyless, I am assuming that I'd just be able to open the car and press the button on the inside of the door to open the mirrors manually?

Ah well, I guess when discussions get as pedantic as this, there can't be much else up with the car!

My GTI does not do this, it doesn't even dip the mirrors when I engage reverse.
