A little help with brakes.
« on: 25 August 2013, 21:18 »
I'm looking to take advantage of the euro car parts sale this bank holiday weekend and am looking at replacing all 4 brakes. However I'm not sure which size/spec I need.

I have a 'Y' reg 2001 mk4 2.0 GTi with standard alloys.

for the fronts do I need 256's, 280's or 288s?
part numbers 104440718, 104440728 or 104440798

and for the backs either 232 or 256
part numbers 104440748 or 104440868

thanks,

Jack

Jack, easiest and safest way to be sure is just measure the diameter of the brake discs.  Yo can probably do this with the wheels still on (depending what wheels you have).

My car spec was totally different to ALL the computer listings so they can still get it wrong buddy.

I got a great deal here http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=562_805_2197

Luckily I am reasonably local so collected and saved on delivery charges.

On the 2.0 the fronts should be vented 280mm discs and the rear will be solid 242mm.

But it is always best to check for yourself to be sure. You might find you can get mintex all round for less than ECP sale off the Internet.
