Rear LED's fitted and coded, now no DRL's
« on: 24 August 2013, 12:48 »
I've fitted my new Rear LED's and had them coded following this guide http://www.mk6golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=81.0

It succeeded in turning off the bulb out warning lights, but I noticed today that I on longer have DRL's. I've tried the indicator/flasher stalk, ignition on and off procedure and get the "bong" to say that they have either been turned on or off, but when they should be on (confirmed by the bong) they are not.

I could just go back to the VW Specialist that did them, but I don't think that he'll know what to do without trial and error. Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have no DRLs at all or are they dim?

If they are dim, it is the problem I had when I coded the LEDs to 04, changing the coding to 15 restored the DRLs

Cheers Snoopy.

I just need to find someone local, or bite the bullet and buy my own VCDS. I've been hovering over the "pay now" button for ages. Dull as it seems, buying my own would work out cheaper than taking time off work and driving lots of miles to get someone to do it for a drink.

As for Askers car, his issues were probably down to it having to carry all that extra paint around.

Have you tried both a value of 04 and 15 in Byte 18?

I haven't been able to take it anywhere to try it again yet.

Another strange thing happened, since coding the lights. The door unlocking changed from one press to open all doors, to one press only opening the drivers door. Also the timing of the coming/leaving home lights when from my 30s setting, down to 10s. All these things could be altered back using the DIS, but why would they change?

Bloody modern cars.

Mine was the same, it's like whatever coding you put in you get the factory settings? Makes sense i suppose.

I've booked the car in with a local tuner who has said that he will have a go at sorting this issue out for me next week, but I'd like to be as informed as I can when I take the car.

I noticed today that my DRL's are coming on instead of the parking lights and the front parking lights are very dim, so when the light switch is in the parking light, dip beam, main beam, or lights turned on automatically, the DRL's are on, but in the Off position, nothing.

This is the coding that was used, taken from Steve P's guide.

When I get onto this screen, how do I change the 04 to 15 as suggested? Is it just a matter of typing it in, or does the binary value underneath need changing?
