Light on inside of mirror
« on: 16 August 2013, 16:12 »
Driving down the road this evening I looked at my driver side mirror to see that the wee light you see on the inside of the mirror flashing when your indicator is on is missing
Phoned VW to find out how to fix it so have to buy a part at £40  part number 5KO949102A
I take it I'm jus gonna have to dig deep & purchase  lol

£20.34 from TPS.

It's a bit of a fiddly job top change it. You need to take the mirror glass out, unscrew the motor then remove the body coloured cap to get at the retaining clips. It's not too bad if you take your time tho'.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

It's not too bad a job but you have to pop the mirror glass out. Very easy to break it if not ultra careful and or lucky! Glass is pricey enough to replace then too.

Buy yourself a decent set of plastic trim removal tools and you'll pop the glass out no problem at all. £20 ought to do it and you'll find them very useful for years. Much cheaper than a new mirror glass would be if you break it.

Can't get my head round where T.P.S. got their name.
Volkswagen are looking £40 for the part & the TRADE.Parts.Specialist are looking £36!!! Wouldn't b worth my while driving there. The last genuine Vw part I priced was a set of front & rear rubber mats, I can't remember the price off hand but T.P.S. where about £1 more expensive!!!
