that's the cat on the right to muffler on the left! the pipe inbetween is just resting on the metal plate thing and bounces off and rattles! any ideas?

the metal ring with what look like cement around it can be slid along a little bit until the pipe humps out

it seems to have sorted itself out now, runs fine and starts first time (touch wood) but now my exhaust rattles! think a bracket has snapped off! al post a picture of what the link from the cat to the muffler

In that case it more than likely your cat was blocked and has temporarily unblocked itself. The rattle you hear now could be the dislodged damaged part of the cat.
