Mk2 golf ecu
« on: 09 August 2013, 12:45 »
I have a mk2 golf 1.3 A reg
Ive noticed I dont have an ecu, the e u in a mk2 golf is usually located on the drivers side scuttle panel.. But I've got nothing there, not even the ecu cover.

Does it matter I have no ecu, it wouldn't be anywhere else in the engine bay?
Or because its  a 1.3 A reg then does that mean it doesn't have one?

So it's nothing to worry about not having one?

Not having an ecu would affect my engine performance?
Fuel economy?
Top speed/ acceleration?

I'll answer your question like a normal human being. Your car doesn't have an ecu as its dosn't require an engine management system and runs a carburettor. The fuel pump is mechanically operated, as is the spark distribution using a set of points, via the camshaft.
