Induction Kit

Im new to this forum, ive had golfs before but nothing worth trying to improve, ive got my hands on a mk4 gti 1.8t, i have heard bad things about putting induction kits on these due to interference with the MAF is this true, am i better off getting green pollen filter and moving the intake?? Get a piper cross panned filter and in future please use the search for topics as there are 100's on this topic. Welcome to the forum btw :)

Hi & welcome to the mad house!

It's not actually induction kits that mess with the MAF, it's the oil on the filters.

An induction kit relocates the air intake down by the front nearside grill. This means it is pulling in colder denser air.

A lot of guys here have opted to go with a panel filter & the R32 ducting to the air box. But this is still smaller than an induction kit. I am running a pipercross VIS induction kit that has a foam (non oiled) filter & is 3" throughout. Never had any issues in the 2-3 years it's been fitted.

Basically as long as you avoid the oiled filters it boils down to personal preference

As above, oiled filters cause the problem, Pipercross foam panel filter is a good choice or if your running an induction kit then look for a foam filter to suit, I ran a Ramair one on mine all ok.

Im running a direnza cold air induction kit with a forge 007p no problems yet, makes no difference to performance wise was purely for the sound

Thanks guys, Heard a lot good about the Pipercross, i was favoring the Green Cotton but i think its gonna have to be the pipercross now,
