Immobiliser Spec on '95 Valver
« on: 07 August 2013, 18:05 »
Ok, couple of quick questions about VW standard immobilsers. Had a go with Search but just ended up with the second question!  I have a '95/M plate 'Valver with standard factory fit immobiliser. Am trying to arrange new insurance for it and have been asked whether immobiliser is "Thatcham 2 or equivalent?". Have searched all the car's own paperwork and found info on how the immobiliser is operated but no actual spec. Any ideas anyone? Like I said, tried Search but only turned up the fact that factory fit immobilsers were only present from '96 on, so what the heck have I got?!

it's not thatcham approved (as it was never tested!)

As suspected, nice hefty hike in the quote...   Did find out when Thatcham rating started for 'Dubs though. There's a pretty comprehensive pdf format list on the Thatcham 'site. First systems tested and rated in '98 if that helps anyone
