Gear stick relay shaft
« on: 01 August 2013, 17:27 »
Just changed this part over and now can't change gears atall. It can shift into 4th awkwardly but that's all. Also the metal case thing the ball sits in was bent out of shape and has been rubbing on the manifold. Could this be why it won't change gears

[edit] just went and did it again and it's all good, although there is still tons of movement when in gear

You can get repair kits for them which include all the bushes and even the bent bracket you speak of. Not sure where but you can get them.

Now it's working I'm going to undo it tomorrow and try to get this bracket off. Bend it back into shape and put it back on. I think it's supposed to be some kind of heat shield for the relay plastic thing. Do you think it's needed or should I just ditch it, my manifold is fully heat wrapped.
