I'm in the process of buying the engine covers from Ginge off his ed35. does anyone know if they're a straight fit on to my gti or is the k04 engine different?

The K04 is different so doubtful it will fit.

Yup - TFSI engine cover has the air filter integrated.

It's also a bit of a pants design...

It's only the pop out section that I have painted not the whole engine cover so no need for and MAF sensor or intake removal.

Have you posted these on mk5gtiuk? Those engine covers cost something like £160 + and are easily damaged so someone may be looking for a replacement.
