Spec doubt!
« on: 25 July 2013, 23:31 »
As seen below,  I opted to be conservative and chose only heat seats, a 'moonroof' and proper suspension.

An e-mail arrived today, an A6 with a standard 1200w stereo system made me question not choosing Dynaudio.

IYHO how long a delay wold you expect to alter my order to include Dynaudio? I'm thinking three weeks.....

When is your estimated BW?  If its a while probably no delay.

Do you really need Dynaudio though?  Really?

I have said it before but I maintain the GTi/D is good value if you are fairly sparing with the options... when you start stacking lots on it adds up - fine if that doesnt bother you but I am comfortable with mine costing £26.5k all in with Roof, PP and Winter pack less discount.

When I chose my options I thought what would I use a lot - heated seats in winter, roof in the summer and the PP to make sure I have the best possible mechanical spec.  Everything else is nice to have, but I hardly ever need a sat nav and all the other things like reverse camera, keyless go, lane assist are all just things to go wrong at some point IMO.  If you are a music fanatic and drive lots then go for Dynaudio, if not dont bother !

Changing your spec will for sure delay your order by several weeks, my dealer confirmed to me yesterday if I now added Nav, it would push back my build by "weeks"

Build week 33 apparently I don't really need a GTD but just concerned the standard stereo might be crap..

I don't want to jeopardise the delivery date so will just have to lump it.

I honk I'm going to miss the reversing camera too.

For those with standard stereo in their mk7's, what do you think?

you might be too late anyway to make changes and you definitely won't be able to add the camera on. standard stereo will be just fine. in my opinion you don't need dynaudio its one of those nice to have options as are all options really.

There is an option of a plug and play subwoofer, which is similar to the dynaudio one in the accessories brochure... you should be able to get a discount.

If you truly are BW33 then your build status on the tracker will have been confirmed about 3 weeks now - so no changing your order (it'll be locked out). If you can still tweak your order then you aren't BW33.

As far as the standard audio set-up goes, it's as good as a standard set-up gets. Unless you're a complete audiophile (at home I like a decent set-up, but in a car on the move, listening to MP3s, what is the point?) or listen to everything extremely loudly, you'll not be kicking yourself you didn't get Dynaudio.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

If you look at the accessories available on the configuration, there is a plug and play sound system available for £500. It fits in the spare wheel well and uses the standard speakers. Its probably not quite as good as the dynaudio system but it may be a good back up plan if the standard system isn't up to scratch.

Its part number 5G0 051 419

How long are you keeping the car?
I'd rather wait an extra 4 weeks for the car "I want" than just "lump it" for 156 weeks wishing I'd got the extras I wanted

p3asa pretty much nailed it there, but I have tested a stock Mk7 golf to see if my album art displayed properly, and the standard audio is absolutely fine.  For a start, I'm playing lossy MP3s, and secondly, I'm inside a relatively noisy car, not a silent soundproofed studio.  I get why people would want the best audio they can get without having to resort to aftermarket stuff, but I'm more than happy with the standard kit.
