k04-023 setup...
« on: 21 July 2013, 22:52 »
hi guys, My turbo is currently passing oil on my car K03s and obviously im going to need a new turbo so my thoughts are to upgrade at the same time, Now I got a few queries I could do with answering from all you turbo nuts out there.

obviously to go k04 and get a decent amount of power I Know of all the hardware I need to run this setup but has anyone put a different inlet manifold on theirs so they can run the s3, lcr charge pipe (throttle body on nearside of the car), if so is it worth doing? only reason I ask is just because I want to keep intercooler pipework tidy.

also what intercooler size and pipe sizing did you guys go for??  I will be using this setup on a AGU engine. any guidance/tips will be kindly appreciated!

Lee

buyin a new k04 with the other bits is not cheap mate  but all depends on what power your after an how much you want to spend, could have your turbo rebuilt for alot less then add a map

You don't want to fit a
Lcr/s3 inlet onto a agu as the agu is large port and the lcr mani is small port so it would be a restriction and distruption in flow!
You can fit it with a small port-large port spacer/gasket

But as said is a restirction so daft really.

Why not get a litco hybrid and then a map to suit then you have to change nothing really and you can get similar figures.

675 seems quite expensive though for a turbo which is really going to be pushed to its limits and that's the max it can be pushed to where as if i was to k04 it id have all the hardware to eventually run a k04 hybrid other than putting in internals. i don't know what to do im so indecisive. If i was to go down the k03s hybrid id want to get as close to 300bhp as possible really... but id want it to be reliable enough for me.. maybe water meth would be a good idea if i was to go hybrid??

300bhp isnt pushed 300bhp is a safe running figure, now badger5bill has maxxed the same k300 turbo to 330-350bhp lol on his mrs lupo.

you can get a large port inlet manifold from another VW with the throttle body on the n/s but im not saying which one cuz im on the look out.
