Golf Loom questions
« on: 21 July 2013, 10:06 »
I have an `86 bus 1.6 td. I have read the bus forums about engine conversions and a 2.0l gti looks like the way to go. My question is are all golf mk3 looms the same with different engine looms? could i source a loom from say an 89 1.6 golf and then add a gti 2e/agg/ady enginge loom ecu later. or will I have to source the whole loom ecu imob from the same model year car?

Cheers guys

You'll need the full loom and ecu for the engine your putting in.

If your planning on using a mk3 engine the later looms include the headlight loom aswell.

Ok, so there's two looms? One for the injection dizzy etc then that plugs into the main engine bay loom and the also goes through the bulkhead to the fusebox ignition?
I'll probably just get the lot from one car. Bigger initial expense but at least ill know it'll all work.
cheers

the later looms do not include the light looms at all

you will only need the engine loom, Ecu and loom from ECU to fuesbox

not sure what fuse box is in the bus tho

When I took the loom out of my 97 GTI the headlight loom was all included with the engine loom. Theres 1 hole in the bulkhead where it all came through. That's why I'm now on the hunt for a early headlight loom with fogs.

The headlight loom just unplugs on top of the rad area

you need just that part with the extra plugs on, and obviously the switch too, i actually think ben has this set up spare

Mine already had fogs so got the switch, I have the part from the big round connector which I thought only did the drivers side lights, horn and down to the lambda connector on the rear engine mount. I need the part that powers it which was all in my engine loom. I did try strip it out but just ended up with a heap of mangled wires.

If you could find out and give me a pm that would be great.

Cheers for the comments guys, I'll be using  the golf fuse box to supply the engine, so alot of wiring will be removed from the loom as it will be fitted into the rear of the bus/ Camper.
