Well i`ll start from the beginning brought a gti 8v (ady engine code) a few weeks back, 1st problems i had was hesitation under heavy acceleration after sorting a vac hose and cleaning the air flow meter out it sorted the hesitation, but it still feels slow! Now its started to cut out at junctions when i dip the clutch at slow speeds(it might be doing it at higher speeds too but i wouldnt know as i obviously change gear before the revs drop down to idle/stall limits).
I have read a few threads on here and other sites and they say it could be plugs-leads-dizzy-fuel pump relay-ecu relay-coolant temp sensor-timing out-throttle body clean-vac/breather pipes-coil, Today i opened the coolant tank and even though it had not lost any water there seemed to be some oil in with my water :S light mayonaise on the cap and small amounts floating on top of the coolant, i done almost 400 mile in her yesterday and the temp guage never budged from middle and not a touch of smoke at any time! (although it did cut out 3 times at junctions on the way). i know theres so much stuff it could be but if someone has a good idea from reading all the symptoms i`d be grateful of any help.
shame really as its a stunner! totally original 3 door candy white non sunroof model with 89k full service history! but if it carries on giving me this much trouble i might aswell get my toe tectors on and stick a vr6 in there!
