Stretched tyres
« on: 13 August 2005, 18:24 »
Hello, im looking at buying a set of second hand ATS Cups (8.5 x 14), the tyres on the wheels are 195/40/14, giving the stretched tyre look, can somebody please tell me if this is illegal and will pass an MOT? What are the rules for the MOT because i dont want anymore hassle from the boys in blue?!!!

Don't think its illegal, I'm running a stretched look. To be honest the tyre place i go to wouldnt fit them if it was illegal, the tyres fit and you still have the same amount of tread on the road as a normal tyre, well nearly so cant really see a problem.

Knobby.

The main thing im worried about is that it looks like the tyre bead doesnt form a tight seal and ive got a lead foot and if i take a round about at speed it might break the bead?

Im running 16x9's with a 215/45/16 tyres, i push it hard round abouts and fast corners and it just sticks to the road. Picture below gives you an idea.

Ok, next question....
How much are Second-hand ATS Cups 8.5 x 14 with Toyo Tyres in average condition worth?
I can get them for £280ish for 4? is that reasonable?

There are a couple of sets on ebay..

Tyres have got to be between 60-70 a pop.. depends on condition.. I brought my B2's for £100 on ebay.. but they needed a refurb!.
