Someone keyed my mk3 Anni!!!! Help!!
« on: 12 July 2013, 10:57 »
Hi, some silly little idiot has decided to key the bonnet and driverside of my car. Does anyone have any advise on how to get the scratches out?? I have hand polished it but most of it is still there, not sure if machine polishing it is a good idea or not? Please leave some advice!! Thanx in advance

It's pretty deep, defiantly through to the primer in some places but don't think it's down to the metal :/

If its through to the primer, then there is nothing you can do, other than touch up the scratch or have the panel repainted... and avoid "Chips away"

Gutted :/ I really didn't want to have to respray it, seems a shame on such an original car. Thanks for the help :)

Would touching up the scratch /repainting be a bad idea as far as the cars origenality? Or an I better to just do it and hope its not too obvious that its been painted?

As long as the touch in is done carefully it should be okay but personally i would be more inclined to paint most of the panel so the better chance of a slight better paint match don't expect to get an exact match if you do it yourself with spray cans etc the paint on mk3's is much older now  a decent body shop will nine times out of ten get a far better match.

I was thinking about getting specialist to price doing the panels for me, I know it will cost a fortune but I'd rather have it done as close as possible if I do respray it
