What do I do if I have a car accident?
« on: 11 July 2013, 16:27 »
Thought I would post this recent blog I wrote, from my experience. Hopefully useful if you have not had an accident before!
A copy of this, a pen, paper and a camera of some form is the most you should need.

What should I do if I am in an Accident?

Cheers guys hope you never have to use it.

You need to mention two every important things

1. Bring or arns and legs in, try to relax and not brace yourself. You will brake bones if you tense up.
2. Turn the ignition off straight away. You do not want to be trapped in a car while its on fire.

I work for an insurance company, now I've realised there's not much difference to the rise of premium between a fault and non fault claim.
And the minute you make a claim, it will go down as fault until it's resolved, and if you're with one of the 'cheaper' insurers (top of the list on comparison sites etc) keep an eye on the claim on your policy as they're renowned for not changing a claim from fault to non fault once it's resolved!

Plus don't go through insurance for windscreen claims, it won't affect your NCD, but will still go down as a claim on your policy!

Some great additions guys, definitely very useful. Insurance needs better body to watch over as the intermediate companies and such are extremely cheeky and no one realizes especially when it is not their fault.

like this topic I wrote before about Albany assistance intermediary claim control.
