Turbo conversion

Right then I've just bought a 2001 passat 1.8t and I'm gonna put it in the mk2 but just want to be sure on everything I'm gonna need off the car before it gets scrapped

I don't think that engine will fit. I'm sure it's mounted the wrong way round.

That engine is transverse, you need a longitudinal engine. Sorry bud

Wrong way round, Passat is longitudinal but you need the transverse set up from a Golf, Audi A3 or Leon.

Won't the block still have the fixing holes for the mount bracket at the rear o/s, also the gear box holes in the same place as a transverse set up?

Didn't think they changed the blocks that much, the rear o/s bracket holes arnt even used on the likes of the mk4 golf but there still there too

Also is it true that the KR, ABF and 20v use the same block, or have I heard wrong?!?

Yes basic block is the same but all the bolt on parts are different so by the time all that is changed you may as well buy the correct lump.
