CONVERTIBLE 2.0 1998 S REG - FAULTY HOOD MOTOR
« on: 07 July 2013, 21:37 »
Good Evening to All,

Saturday afternoon, dropped the top of my g/f's car, then closed it up a couple of hours later.....when it reached the fully closed point, the motor gave a strange sound, not like the normal motor in motion sound.

This morning, tried to put the top down, strange noise from the motor again but no movement from the hood at all....any ideas??

As a simple minded, non-mechanic, I'm thinking the motor has gone, but i know often times with these types of faults its something a little less obvious and probably more expensive!

I've found a motor on ebay from a 1998 model for £145.00, is that a reasonable price and how long would it take to remove and install the motor?

Many thanks for your assistance folks....much appreciated!!

As it happens, the g/f has owned this car for just over 2 years and this is the first problem we've had with it....very good car!!

Cheers

BF
