Just out of interest why would people put music on a memory card rather than their phone?

Because my 16GB iPhone simply isn't big enough to hold all my music so I keep it all on a USB stick.

Does the class of SD card matter to the responsiveness (i.e. Class 4, Class 6 or Class 10)?

The cheapest SD cards are Class 4. If I go for the cheapest will their be a noticeable speed difference between Class 4 and Class 10.

I hope I made sense

Thx

I'm not an expert so I may be overuled but I believe the class 10 cards are only really relevant to recording video.  i.e. if you are recorded HD video say you don't want to be losing data due to not being able to save it fast enough.  Playback of mp3 shouldn't be an issue for class 4.

That said why not just get class 10, doesn't cost much more, especially compared to the car.  I picked up 2 class 10 64Gb cards which I use for my DSLR and transferring files around.  I can put them in my TV for example to playback video saved on them.  Whether I'd have any issue saving or playing back the video on class 4 I don't know but even if you can get 64Gb in class 4 the savings would be small, why have the risk?

The car won't take advantage of class 10 speeds, but by buying class 10 you generally get a more reliable card because the best companies are making them, and there isn't that much price difference unless you start going seriously big (64Gb +). Class 10 read/write speeds are mainly required for HD video or a run of burst shots on a decent camera with high resolution.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Got to get my SD card reader looked at as "unable to read SD card 1" "unable to read SD card 2" though sat nav is working fine.

Tried multiple cards I know work fine from standard SD at 1 and 2 GB to 8 and 16GB SDHC and tried all formats FAT FAT32 and exFAT so pretty stumped though I only want it to transfer the DAB logo as very happy with IPod attached to media lead. But regardless of whether use much it should work so will get it sorted.

Will let you all know if it was the reader or something not doing with cards though cannot think what.

Can anyone confirm if a microSD card in an adaptor worked in the Golf? Or will I need to get a full size SD card? I'm needing to sort out 50 odd gig of music I wanted to buy a card this week to get it sorted before I get the car.

Cheers

It works great with adaptor as that is what I use.
