Turbo Diverter Valve

Got the car back from the stealer's today after its 4th annual service. All good, passed its MOT without advisories but just came back with an amber warning on the service report of a slight weep from the turbo diverter valve. It reports to "check in a few months" so, to be fair to them, no attempt to sting me for some sort of repair.
Anyway, due to my lack of technical knowledge, can one of you well informed chaps tell me what this valve is doing, why it is weeping, do I need to worry about it, do I need to get it repaired and, if so, what sort of cost are we talking? I was going to get JBS Auto to do the lower chain tensioner in a couple of months so will probably get this done at the same time but it would be nice to just go there with some knowledge up my sleeve.

This is what mine was like after it split,
Won't do any damage to the engine but you will find that's its not holding the amount of boost it should, so will feel underpowered

No its simply 3 bolts to change and one plug to unplug iirc the last one cost me 35 quid

Oh and the weep does he meen air or oil, if its oil then it may not even be the dv valve. See my oil leak thread. It could be a seal on the air intake pipe. See my oil leak thread for what the dv valve does and how the intake system works.

About £45 for a complete new valve and 3 bolts to change it,
If you don't fancy doing yourself ? I'd of thought half hr labour from a decent garage

Search for my oil leak thead then check the intake pipe etc talked about in it. Then report back. If its not oily were mine was there is a couple of other things to check to rule out that are also known issues.

Most prob be oily vapours from the PCV valve pipe, not the best design in the world,
Mine use to drip onto the exhaust heat shield, another reason why I removed it all and fitted a catch can

Maybe i looked at it wrong. But when i put this to the master tech he decided to changed the seals on the air intake pipes.The thing is oil vapour should not get out the system . If it does then air can. If air can its after the maf sensor.
 If its after the maf its not measured correctly. If its not measured correctly the mixtures wrong......

For the record it was the oil from the pcv system dripping down onto the dv on mine.

I have heard my local dealers done loads of these seal repairs since. They use to change dv and turbos... now its seals or intake pipe.

They seemed completely unconcerned about it today. They were going to diary it to contact me in 3 months to check it out again. Can't be too bad and I've had no drops on the drive either.
