How to test intercooler for leaks

What is the best way of testing an intercooler for leaks? Would it be to block off one end and poor water in it and see if it comes out, or would water be to thick if the whole was very small?

And, does a Forge FMIC have the Forge name on it? I ask as I know of one for sale that is apparently a Forge single pass, but there is no Forge name on it

A forge one usally has the name onit and I wouldn't put water in, your better off having a smoke test done.

You should be able to see trades of oil coming out if it was leaking.

yeah I would go with a smoke test. or if you block 1 end of intercooler and find a way to pressurise with a couple of psi on the other end. then put ic into a container of water and check for bubbles coming out. could probably do it with a cooling system pressure tester.

Thanks guys, I definitely think it is the intercooler as the 17963 code keeps coming back after a run. I will be going along quite quickly in 5th and all of a sudden there is no more power, it won't pull any more. All the pipes that could leak have now been replaced, this eliminated the 17705 code. i have a few days off work now, so I will give the intercooler a test!
