How much of that is the bluefin? Scirocco renewed last Nov for £360,quotes for GTD running at £240 for me, quite a saving. Add £45-50 for my imminent 3 points (just got the official offer letter of £60 and 3 points as I identified myself as driver, so will be sending that back).
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

The bluefin put it up by around £130.

Still a big drop in price.

Do they not differentiate between the performance pack model and the non pp?
I looked on  confused.com and only find a "golf gti tsi 2.0" 2013-2013
Knowing what insurance companies are like im surprise they didnt see the pp as an excuse to jack up the price

They do differentiate.  Confused.com must be confused.  I'm sure it will correct by the time you have a plate to enter though!

Nope - 47 in a 30 (that was a 50 until recently, caught by a mobile unit at the bottom of a steep hill). If it was 36 in a 30 then I might've been offered the course.

I visited a few of the comparison sites before I went for a test drive incase I was smitten.
I ran quotes for my current car and the mk7

The cheapest for me was
Mk7 £307.40
Mk6 £262.73

Not a huge difference considering a new car is normally abit more.

With the same insurance company it was 316.21 v 262.73 so not a huge difference.

It should be less, the mk7 is about 5 groups lower.

Yes, thanks to the ADC the insurance has dropped 5 groups for the GTI. Perhaps some insurers will punish you for lack of ADC on demo/launch variants and maybe it is those variants for which the higher quote is valid (possible but not probable).

You may find as I have because its a new car worth according to insurance companys anyway probably worth twice what my old one is it maybe a higher premium. I have found this a few times in the past with new cars.
I have found in my case that in the past 20+ years that an insurance group rating is meeningless and is no way to judge the cost for me. Its why I went off and tried a few of the comparison sites to get an idea of the cost. I also didn't select the launch model. What i did was run it for the mk7 then changed the car details to the 6 and ran it again.
Anyway it wasnt much different, and didnt bother me.
