iTunes Match
« on: 04 July 2013, 14:54 »
Has anyone else had the delights of working with iTunes Match? I was hesitant at first but my god, it is the best £21.99 a year I could possibly spend.

For those that do not know, basically iTunes Match will scan your library, and try and match it with songs it has in the iTunes Store, if it matches them, they are instantly available to stream or download, if not then the rest are uploaded to iCloud to stream and download as you want.

The great thing is, if songs have been matched, if you have a lower quality version than the 256 AAC Apple uses, you will be able to stream and download the better version instead.

The major benefit here is I can access my iTunes library from my iPhone, iPad, Macs, Apple TV and work PCs, or just about anywhere that allows you to access iTunes. I don't ever need to use just the main library again to manage my music because any new music I download automatically gets matched or uploaded, as do playlists, play counts and all that jazz.

It's such a slick and awesome feature, and for £21.99 a year it's a bargain. Not to mention iTunes Radio (Spotify contender) will be fully unlocked if you have iTunes Match (as opposed to a restricted version if you go for the free version).

Win! :afro:

It's does explain that they do not actually scan your music for piracy related stuff. It matches the same way Shazam matches songs.

I wouldn't worry about that, I'm sure the NSA know all about it already...

"256 AAC"

Sounds utter pants on decent gear. Sorry.
