New clutch but now have Stiff Clutch Pedal - GT 130

Hi All,

just bitten the bullet and payed out for replacement DMF and clutch fitted by my local garage.(£500 ish) on my TDI. Car has done 145k on same clutch and DMF.

However the clutch pedal is so bloody stiff to push down on , i was expecting a nice light smooth operation but its such hard graft in traffic. The pedal comes back up ok. Prior to the change the clutch was also pretty heavy but put that down to the age.

An Indy suggested it might be to do with clutch springs or cheapo clutch thats been used as dont think it was sachs or Luk, maybe should have insisted on this.

Not sure Clarks sell Lead footed shoes..

Any ideas? Will be taking it back to get them to look into this as cant live with it really.

If end and clutch kit was changed you should have a really light pedal..
What make is the bits?

no idea but it wont be a sachs or luk not at the price i paid. so assume its a cheapy clutch and this is the result. its going back to garage they will need to put it right and if necessary i will pay the difference to get a sachs. lesson leanred to make sure you know what they are putting in.

I would check for a damaged fluid line. maybe crushed slightly?

Also check master on peddle may be dragging abit when pushing clutch to floor. Cheap clutch should give u a light peddle as springs are a lot weaker, just replaced mine for Sachs sre and peddle was stiffer but nice.
