After market 19" Santiago's only €2,469 (approx. £2,118)

Makes VW's list price of £965 look like a bargain

Yeah, but that's £965 instead of the 18" wheels, not as well as.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

You've got to get tyres as well. Always cheaper to pay the difference for the upgrade than to buy a fresh set and sell your own set. About £200-250 of that £965 will be in the tyres - 19" tyres will probably be £50 a piece nore than the 18"ers.

They sell the Austins for 1689 euros too, so 780 euro difference (£678+ £200 tyre money and you're not far off your £965)

True, true but I'm just pointing out how expensive it will be for people to upgrade post delivery. Eye watering

Reckon they will come down a lot after a while.

I fancy a set, but would be suspect to handling I guess.

If the car had come standard with 17" alloys I would definitely have upgraded but the fact it was 18"s made the decision that much easier. I still really like the style of the 19"s but it was £965 too far for me and would have been more of an indulgence than required.

The brake disks already look small on 18" wheels, they look tiny on 19"ers - keep the 18s unless you have ACC to soften the ride on poorer surfaces.

To be fair I like the 19'' alloys but we can't spec them with sunroof and I would rather have the sunroof and the standard (gorgeous) 18''

You are talking about the GTD wheels?

I honestly prefer them to the Austins, but not by much, i'd have been happy with either set. The black accents looked great against my dad's black car.

The Santiago's look great but I bet they will take an age to clean.  I am happy I went with the Austins.  I currently have 7 Spoke alloys and they take so long to clean, the Santiago's look more intricate than my current wheels.
