I dont think you can have a chirp or honk anymore. Something to do with Brussels/EU and noise pollution crap.

And how are they going to stop us exactly? This only makes me more interested in it.  Every time I lock the car I'll get a little extra "f*ck you EU" satisfaction out of it.  Oh yeah   !

Someone needs to fly a fighter jet at Mach 2 100m above Brussels, then they'll know what noise pollution really is.

Anyone know if VAG COM software for the MK5/MK6 work with the MK7? A mate of mine has Vag Com and he made some tweaks to my MK6 GTD for me back in the day. I might ask him to enable the alarm chirp on my GTI if that's possible with his software...

Do the wing mirrors automatically fold in when the car is locked?  If so, that's the only clue I need that the doors are locked!  None of this chirping and beeping here like cars used to when remote locking first became the fashion!

Haha!  Can't beat having the choice if it's there   I just find the whole sound thing a bit "cheep" if you pardon the pun!

They do fold when you lock the car yeah (although you can disable that) but I don't think they unfold again until you start the ignition!

We've been to Florida a couple of times and 90% of American cars do the honk thing when you lock them, i must say it was an absolute lifesaver when it came to trying to find the hire car in the Universal studio's car park!! :D

Not so useful at Sainsbury's! ;D
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

US car parks must just be "honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk".  Like a load of ducks quacking at each other...

Yeah! I was on a USA holiday myself only in the last few weeks and I still have a headache from all the honking! It's very common / accepted practice there to constantly honk the horn at traffic in front of you if they are too slow or dare to make a wrong move at a junction... not good for a nervous tourist struggling with a Garmin!

Then as Jimble says, the cars have so many beeps and warning noises, they'd really do your head in. I was lucky enough to get a Ford Mustang for a few days, only had 300miles on the clock when I got it. Lovely car, but those of us used to German interior build quality would be appalled by the fit and finish in it. The ignition key was like something from a 1988 Toyota!

Here's the beast I had...
