both the gti's I've been in and monkeys dads gtd had door stays about a third of the way after opening.

Yes, there's a first fixed click and then it's frictional after that. The door had no bother staying where you left it in the frictional zone - variable opening is very handy.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

That's a fine looking motor Joe. Looking forward to seeing it around the city. What part of town are you based?

Over in Ballybrit / Doughiska area. Nice to see another Galway man here! Are you a GTI driver?

I'm over Salthill side myself, hopefully see you round town at some stage. Afraid I'm not a GTI owner yet but hope to be before too long!
I called into Western a few weeks ago to see the Mk 7 and they said they were due one in which I presume is yours. Do you know if they have any demo model out there at the mo?

Oh it must have been mine they were talking about alright! They have no demo and I doubt they'll have one. Their Drogheda branch does have one. They've ordered a GTD, before I ordered mine, and they still haven't got it in.
I used to live in Salthill myself, only moved out recently. I used to drive a white mk6 GTD, you might have seen it cruising the prom!

Yes I saw your GTD in Salthill a lot! How does the Gti compare?
I see they're looking for €28k for your GTD. Did you find Western good to deal with?

Feckers! They didn't give me 28k for it! I don't think they'll get that much for it but it is easily the cleanest example in the country. They're ok to deal with. It's my 4th car in a row I've bought off them so I suppose I'm a loyal customer!
I really liked the GTD but it was a hard car to love. Diesel just doesn't have the same spark for me. The MK7 feels fantastic, so smooth, refined. Handling in particular is superb. The GTD was a bit nose heavy on bends and roundabouts. GTI extremely well planted in comparison.

Gave it a proper wash and applied a coat of sealant, removed dealer stickers clutter and fitted a set of pressed plates.
I love this car!!!

And a few inside... I got some better interior dark shots too
