Diesel oil filter on a GTI
« on: 29 June 2013, 22:18 »
Changed the engine oil and gearbox oil today. but used a new oil filter from a mk3 TDI on my GTI. the TDI filter was a bit bigger than GTI one but the threads and seal was the same. I knew holding on to this filter for 15 years would eventually pay off

i dont know? i dident know they had those. both are none genuine parts, so i would asume both probaly dont have one. dosent seem to run any different.

It is more of a long term problem, I would never use a cheap oil filter.

+1 a couple of vans I maintained sounded like a bag of nails every time they started. Really really rough til the oil pressure picked up. Once serviced with genuine parts it's quiet starting now. The position of the oil filter meant it completely emptied every time the engine was shut off.

Where all my moneys went.

Not an ideal situation but probably more important thats its been given fresh oil and a new filter.
