bonnet closing problems..

have a problem, my bonnet shuts properly but you have to proper slam it.. but when you shut it properly you cant open it using the bonnet release in the drivers side footwell.. i took the grille off to find that it was being help on my cable ties so i need a new grille. i took off the grille to see that everything is fine, but the actual cable going to the spring from the bonnet release pops out when its closed properly, so you have to put it back into place to actually open it again.? correct me if im wrong but do i just need to adjust the cable from the bonnet release in the footwell so it stays tighter and stays in place? then it will open and close fine? wrong or right..

I'm not sure if its the same, but when I Pop the bonnet the catch stays out. I have to push it back in before I can close the bonnet normally. Have you looked at the position of your handle before you close the bonnet?

Somewhere on the slam panel, there should be a small clamp that holds the outer sleeve from slipping, trace the cable back, and you should find it, it may just want the screw tightening, or the clamp is missing...
Your bonnet should shut by dropping it from about 10 inches or so, anything else, then there is a problem, or misalignment!

hey I just had a look at my bonnet pull cable. no sign of any adjustment there. unless there is something at the latch in behind the grill. no sign of the usual little adjustment plate at all.

very very helpful guys thanks, i'll have a look tomorrow and let you know if i can sort it out

the cable just comes out of place after shutting the bonnet, as it goes in through the little grooves and for it to stay there it should be tight, but mines not tight so it doesnt pull back the spring enough for the bonnet to pop

how can i adjust this cable to make it tighter???
