well, not actually a performance map, i put a stock file on a different ecu. BUT, a stage 1 file can be easily bought from a reliable online source!

Jamie please tell me your not gonna try this on your actual car. I suppose it is possible to buy a stage 1 map online but how much would you trust the source if they won't put it on for you

there wouldn`t be a problem fitting this one to my car, it`s a boggo factory file with no tuning done to it. and why would i fit a stage one generic to my car when i already have a stage 2 professionally tuned map on it?
this is purely for educational purposes, and btw there are known sources which provide genuine generic files.
everybody starts somewhere, some people are lucky enough to get trained, others go ahead and train themselves. sometimes without the resources its the only way to learn, and thats to find your own resources and take it step by step. i dont plan on mapping anyones car, i dont mind trying stuff out on my own car if im honest, if you follow procedures and know what you are doing right from the start then you shouldn`t go far wrong. that`s where common sense comes into play, i know i am no engine tuner, i know basic principles and i know a bit about how engine management works. i did once build my own megasquirt project with an individual throttle bodied Vtr`d axgt. i i built the ecu from tiny components and once built i had it reading all the sensors and sending signals etc. i never actually had this car running due to a damaged engine and running out of funds.
the common sense bit is knowing when you don`t know enough! which i know, i don`t know enough to map motronic ecu`s.
megasquirt was pretty much self explanitory, very deep in information and a great place to start learning if you don`t mind having your car off the road while you build it. or you could pre-build it, and the loom and have base maps to get you started.
at the end of the day, what i`m trying to say is, i know i`m not an engine tuner and im not going to remap my "car" i am playing with ecu`s at the mo and getting to know them

cheers for the pat nav  if i get a spare moment i might code this one into the car and see how it runs.
i can`t really see me having any run lean or knock problems but who knows it might not even start.

Fair play after the long rant mate I say go for it just didn't want anything bad happening LOL also I honestly didn't know you could by stages one online also didn't realise you had a stage 2 so my next question how comes you loaded a base tune on the ecu you gotta is that just to learn how to flash the software on?

How easy isit?
Cost etc?

The base tune is because the ecu is originally from an n/a 20v. Same ecu type but different software. Therefore a whole dump file was needed in order for it to work on an agu. It might not even work but what I do know is, the software is loaded as the ecu now i.d's as an agu ecu.

Ive got an Evolve Switch in a box upstairs that's not used. It has a 350bhp remap on for a BMW 335D.
I sold the car with the standard map on, so Ive no use for it.
I was wondering if I delete the BMW map,  could I copy the Revo remap off one of my Golfs with it, and put it on my other Golf which is standard?
Any ideas??
