engine making a weird sound today! anyone know what it could be?

bloody euro car parts sent me a tensioner with an m10 hole! old one is m8. idiots

managed to change the cambelt.. put the old tensioner back on cos there was no play and it was visually fine. the strange noise has gone.. and another strange slurping noise that I thought was the water pump has gone too!! weird... all runs fine again thanks for your help guys

I have found that its better to take the old part in to Europarts as they can be hit and miss with regards to parts matching.

good idea mate i think ill try and do this from now on.. although living right in the sticks doesnt help!

if you pull the belt tensioner right round to the stop how can you allow for thermal expansion of the engine?

You might as well change the tensioner and the waterpump...peace of mind for 60000miles in that department at least...
