code 16716 - Low Voltage.
I located the knock sensor (2 pins) and just replaced it with a new one. The car is fine if I drive slow but as soon as say I am on the motorway doing speed the code will come back on pretty much right away after deleting. Now the code only shows when I plug in and read for any codes. It is 'not' putting my engine management light on, so if I had not plugged in I would not have been any of the wiser. Could this be causing my car damage? Could possibly the sensor be working correctly and by saying low voltage may indicate engine damage? Or would engine damage be followed by some other code?
Does anyone know if say its a wiring problem and there is actually no voltage getting to the sensor (broken circuit) would this cause low voltage error?
There is one thing I have not done yet and that is to torque the sensor to ensure its torqued exactly to 20nm. Could this cause a low voltage error?
Anyone got any guidance on how I can test the wiring? On the VW Manual it says check Terminal 1 and socket 107 for open circuit and Terminal 2 with socket 99 for open circuit. I have no idea where socket 107 and 99 they are referring to is?? Any ideas? Is this the ECU? Any diagram pictures of the pins and location of the ECU?
I did check the resistance of the old sensor and its sitting around 5 ohmns which I believe is correct.
Any help and advice greatly appreciated.
