Coolant leak in driver footwell
« on: 23 June 2013, 16:22 »
I've had a good look through previous entries but cannot see one related to my issue.

I have coolant dripping down into the driver footwell. It's definitely coolant - can tell by the colour. No obvious leaks I can see under the bonnet and I suspect heater matrix problem but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Car is an '89 16V. Any ideas folks?

Thanks and regards

Raymondo

Sounds like your Matrix has gone...

Are you getting any hot air from the heater when the car is hot?

Hot air coming out fine - heater seems to be working OK. If it is heater matrix (and I hope not!) can anyone advise me of my options?

Thanks for replying guys

Thanks X4 - I was reading the guide to replacing the heater matrix ass you posted. Looks like I'll be well busy next weekend!

Not a pleasant job!!

I found it helped to take some of the screws that hold the front of the dash brackets in place to get it out easier...

You need a set of these too; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=271204903008

Nothing like a bit of free advertising Ken.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
