Bilt Hamber products

I'm a newbie with no experience of detailing. I take delivery of a GTI  carbon steel grey shortly and want to protect bodywork. I've seen some reviews of the Bilt Hamber Auto wash ,Auto clay soft and Auto balm. As a beginner I'm tempted to use the same product for each phase and believe the application is straightforward and the results very good.Does any forum member have experience of these products please? I should also be grateful for advice on products for protecting the interior seats etc,

I've used Bilt Hamber medium clay which is good.  Easy to use and only need to use water as a lubricant.  I would avoid the regular clay if you're new to it, go for soft or medium.

Never used the BH Auto Wash or balm, so can't comment but have used BH Auto Foam with a lance which I really rate.  Gives a thinner foam than some but seems to shift a fair amount of dirt.

Get involved with the waxamomo forum. Loads of product reviews on that site and loads of good advice.

I'd be prepared to give your new car a real good piece of TLC. Look after it well first and then the rest of it should be easy.

Bilt Hamber is the best clay by miles - especially formulated to be used with water.  First few times I got the soft which is superb.  More recently I bought the regular which is supposed to be more effective but it's a stiffer material and much harder to neat and re-shape.

You're better off with soft, I think I'll go back to it too.

I used Auto Balm years ago and just couldn't get on with it.  The clay is meant to be good and I have used their cavity wax which is ace.

There are better waxes than Bilt Hamber. I like the soft clay so would recommend that. As far as other bits and pieces go, I am not too serious a detailer but like Meguiars Gold Class car wash and the two bucket method for washing. For a glaze I use either Poorboy's World Black Hole or Prima Amigo. For last stage protection use a Collinite wax ( I use insulator 945). I think it is best to mix and match products and different products work better on different colours. The two glazes I have mentioned have good "filling" ability, which you might prefer if you don't want to go down the OCD route.
