I was gonna say that its because its loud.

I drove plenty of standard cars fast past police and they do nothing. But been pull couple of times in loud cars

I think i would agree with the guys its because your cars loud they probably assumed you was speeding so gave you a warning that if you did it again you would get a ticket, but its nothing major they just dont like the sound of loud cars because they like doughnuts better.. Heres the reason to why they can do this : http://www.fastcar.co.uk/2010/07/15/what-is-a-section-59/.. bit rubbish the government have given them this power because they seem to abuse it  :undecided:

Police dont need Section 59.
They have the right to stop any motor vehicle on the public highway for any reason they can dream up!
As long as said officer is on duty and is carrying his warrant card.
In other words they can stop any car anytime they like and give a very dubious reason.

Chuff, funny you say about the marker. Got pulled Sunday night again for a random check. I was on a national speed limit B road doing 60 and the officer said "you were going a bit quick weren't you?", I just looked at him and said "no I was doing 60, which is the speed limit" and his reply was "not a problem, that's fine".....As if I'd admit if I was speeding anyway

I never get stopped and have never been in bother with the police but the evening I got my vr6 i gunned it a bit in 2nd off a roundabout onto the A9 which was quiet and nowhere near a residential area. The traffic car appeared out of nowhere and pulled me at next junction. Got hit with a years worth of ASBO. Basically a Section 59 so if i get done again they will seize the car. It is a noisy bar steward when you give it some. They wanted me to change the exhaust but managed to talk my way out of that one.
