Corrado G60, TPS supplied thermostat fitted new unit 12 months ago, has it failed. I have no heat from heater matrix,
Coolant up to level and been around squeezing all pipes to see if level changes in bottle all ok.
Matrix is not leaking.
Thought it may have been an air lock but all seems ok.
So has anyone else had a similar fault occur. I only ask as it seems the thermostat went to perfectly hot to stone cold in a day there wasn't the expected gradual loss of heat. Thanks for looking

Thanks for advice, I'll take it out and replace for new but test the old one first to determine that it is at fault before putting it all back together.
I just find it hard to believe it's failed as engine has only covered about 400 miles since full rebuild.. thanks again

I tested a new one from unipart after some posts on this site about dodgy thermostats and it didn't work in the slightest. The bloke at the desk said I must be the only person that tests them first.

I also test them before fitting,   in recent years they seem to have become crap, had loads of duff ones out the box from various supplyers.

it's got to the point that if i'm replaceing the waterpump i won't put a new thermostat in,   the old stat gets refitted in a new houseing as even tho it's old it's likely to last a lot longer than a new replacement

engine i've just rebuilt for mine has 2nd hand stat and temp sensors in it
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Ok now took car out on Sunday afternoon to get engine up to temp, the water pipes feeding to and from matrix through bulkhead both of these are hot but still have no cab heating, matrix isn't leaking. So is it the flap inside dash that controls hot and cold air flow. Has anyone had a problem like this.

on my my mk2 golf the flap foam all blew off through the vents making it a flap with gaping holes in it.
