Induction Kit Help
« on: 10 August 2005, 21:45 »
I am having a bit of trouble with my induction kit installing, The problem is that i have put the cone on the top tube but the airbox is connected to wires and there is another tube from the bottom of the airbox to the back of the engine. Can i take the airbox off or are the wires attached to the airbox for a reason? The car is a Mk3 1.8 8v SPI (The SE Version). Would it be easier to get a performance panel filter?

I may be wrong but on mine it was an additional (warm) air feed into the airbox so you can just fasten it out the way as obviously you want cooler air anyway!

If you want to use the Induction kit, you will need to remove the air filter.  I had a K&N 57i kit on my old 1.8 Spi Driver for a couple of months, but took it off as it proved to be more trouble than it was worth.  (started running rough and power was peaky).  My advice would be to get a Panel filter and drill your airbox - then you get increased flow and a bit of extra growl.

Cheers
