Rear Sway Bar or W.A.L.K - Which one first
« on: 19 June 2013, 22:35 »
Hey up guys, looking to add a bit more rear end stability. So going for rear sway or WALK seems best options.

At the moment i can probably only afford one (just bought remap and LED Rears) which would you say offers better grip, feel, stability etc.....

Also, is S3 arms a good upgrade....?

a rear sway bar actually takes away rear stability by reducing rear grip and shifting balance towards the front end if that makes sense

also WALK has nothing to do with rear end stability - it increses front end traction under hard acceleration and increases steering weight and feel so again probably takes weight of the rear end.

S3 steering arms allow you to adjust camber and are also made from alloy so are lighter. they also have stiffer bush consoles.

Ok, i think calling it rear end stability is a mistake on my behalf - More toward full body control and turn in grip.

So which yo think first, sway or Walk?

my advice rocket is you come up with a plan for short term, intermediate and long term for the car and decide what you what from it, how you want it to drive and plan accordingly

i have front and rear ARBs and rears (and suspension) are set up specifically so there is some more rear end movement, that's how i wanted it and may not be to everyones taste

to date i haven't done WALK or S3 arms as wanted the major surgery out the way first, in reality i will be adding the Superpro ALK as feedback seems the bushes is better and may do the alloy Superpro ones but i am now in the period of diminishing returns on investment

i would say out of the 2 you mentioned the WALK is the better first option.

the rear sway bar is good for the money and makes a noticeable difference but if the tyres are crap or suspension not very good your running the risk of a lively back end. it will help turn in though

i would upgrade suspension before or at the same time as sway bars personally.

these are bothe relatively cheap and very easy to fit parts so can be done easily
